Rustan’s 65th: The Blue Sapphire Anniversary

Events, Fashion, People

What is extraordinary?

Well, what began as a simple retail shop on San Marcelino Street in old Manila, grew to become the Philippines’ most distinguished bearer of leading global brands — RUSTAN’S.

The founding couple of Rustan’s, Bienvenido Tantoco, Sr. and Gliceria Rustia Tantoco, first set-up shop in 1952, with a vision that “the tasteful Filipina had every right to be immaculately dressed by only the finest and most coveted names in style.” Rustan’s soon found itself branching out, carrying not only fashion, but everything from cosmetics to fragrances, toiletries, and even premium packaged food items.

Rustan's Cebu

No Cebuano could forget this. The old Rustan’s Cebu on Mango Avenue.

65 years later, Rustan’s now has five department store branches, twenty-six supermarket locations, and more than 2,000 brands licensed amongst the whole group.

To celebrate its 65th year of luxury retail, Rustan’s lined up a host of activities and promos, including a fashion show featuring The Sapphire Collection worn by Cebu’s top models.

Personalities flocked to the grand anniversary event, reminiscing and sharing their own Rustan’s life stories with each other.

Through six decades of dedication to class, taste, and style, Rustan’s has become a name synonymous to luxury; a symbol of an all-encompassing lifestyle of leisure.

Talk about extraordinary!
