Wasn’t able to go to the Korea Demilitarized Zone on our first visit to South Korea, and so we made sure to make it happen this time.
The thrill-seeker in me had been dreaming of going to the DMZ. I mean, who wouldn’t be so enchanted just by seeing a glimpse of what is considered to be one of the most secretive societies in the world, and thrilled to be right in the border where war between two countries (without an actual peace treaty) could break out in the blink of an eye.
We went to the Imjingak Park, where there was a mini amusement park and a deck where you could get a great view of North Korea right opposite the Imjin river, and the historic Bridge of Freedom. We initially, really wanted to go to the Joint Security Area where everything’s more tense. But maybe on the next visit perhaps? 🙂

On the way to DMZ. Here you can already see the layers upon layers of fences.

Looking right into North Korea.
